ORINDA, Calif., Feb. 16, 2021 – Hartog, Baer & Hand (HBH) Principal Ryan J. Szczepanik has been elected as president of the East Bay Trust and Estate Lawyers (EBTEL). Effective Jan. 1, Szczepanik succeeds HBH Principal David D. Little in the role.
EBTEL is a nonprofit organization of lawyers dedicated to creating and sustaining educational and social opportunities for lawyers and other professionals in the trust and probate law fields. Established in 2010 by former leaders of the Alameda County Trusts and Estates Bar, the organization offers numerous MCLE programs and seminars covering subjects in trust and estate law.
A Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust, and Probate Law, Szczepanik has nearly two decades of legal experience, focusing on trust and estate litigation, and he has tried numerous matters in both California and federal courts. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the California Lawyers Association (TEXCOM), and he is a delegate to the Conference of California Bar Associations. Additionally, Szczepanik serves as a Court Appointed Special Master and Referee for the Alameda County Probate Court. Szczepanik received his J.D. from Emory Law School in 2003, where he received the Dean’s Award for Trusts & Estates, and his B.A from Amherst College in 1999.
